THE LEDGER   BLOCKCHAIN PayPal Alum: How Blockchain Will Change Investing and Why Real Estate Will Be First Yammer CEO David Sacks. David Paul Morris/Bloomberg—Getty Images By  JEFF JOHN ROBERTS  RePrinted by Scott Shields Katy, Texas May 19, 2018 There’s a lot of hype about turning property into digital tokens and trading it on a blockchain—but so far no one is actually doing it. That’s going to change this year, says “ PayPal Mafia ” member David Sacks, and the first thing we’ll trade are real estate tokens. Sacks is worth heeding. He’s best known as the first COO of PayPal—where he built a payment giant alongside other mafia members like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel—but is also a serial entrepreneur who recently launched a $350 million venture fund focused on crypto. On Thursday, speaking at  Token Summit  in New York, Sacks explained why he is bullish on “security tokens,” which are the blockchain’s versio...

Mexico's Natural Gas Market Mechanics Designed Somewhat Like United States

Image
Reposted by www.morganshields.com, Scott Shields Katy Houston Mexico’s Energy Regulatory Commission publishes regional natural gas prices for the first time As part of the ongoing liberalization of the Mexican natural gas market, on March 22, Mexico’s Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) published for the first time  monthly natural gas prices for six trading regions  in the country. The regional prices supplement the  national monthly natural gas price index , called IPGN, which was launched in August 2017. CRE collects data for the pricing indexes based on monthly post-transactional reports that all natural gas marketers operating in Mexico are required to file. Monthly regional price indexes include the average prices paid for natural gas plus transportation costs for all transactions that took place in each region during the previous month. The selection of regions was based on regional natural gas supply patterns, existing and in-development pipeline trans...

Economy up, Energy up, Trump up

Image
President Trump is up, elite media are down Newt Gingrich Imagine the frustration building in elite media offices across the country. From the start, the members of the elite media have been relentlessly bashing President Trump.  The reality they have been promoting has been one in which the White House staff is in chaos; a hardline, supposedly dangerous right-wing hawk has been nominated to be national security adviser; and some of the most important news of the day centers around a woman with a lurid tale from more than a decade ago. Meanwhile, deeply nostalgic TV personalities, who have been nurtured on the true faith of demonstration liberalism, have been fondly describing how anti-gun protests are bringing back memories of the civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements. In weaving together this false narrative, members of the elite media are collectively building an effort to uplift left-wing values and diminish the achievements of conservative leadership – specif...

Could ANGC have legs?

Image
The Chinese usually send large numbers of representatives to most events. However, perhaps they are serious about Alaska LNG.   Even when I hosted PetroChina to the United States and gave a detailed presentation regarding the natural gas fundamentals in North America, they included about 10 executives.  But, perhaps 38 people from a variety of financial institutions blows 10 people out of the water almost 4x.  This could be a great sign for ANGC and its $30-$40B project.  Chinese entities eyeing $43 billion Alaska LNG send large delegation to study project   Author:   Alex DeMarban    Updated: 2 days ago    Published 2 days ago Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via Email Share on Tumblr Share on Reddit Share on LinkedIn Share on Google Plus Print article A large delegation representing the three China-owned entities that might invest in Alaska's $43 billion g...

LNG exports up 4x

Image
Scott Shields Scott Shields Natural Gas, LNG, NGLs & Energy Commercial, Capital Raise, Valuation, Corporate Structuring, Hedging, Acquisitions now U.S. LNG exports are up 4x in 2017.  Not really a surprise since they were quite small in 2016.  However, the surprise will come in the next 5-7 years, when US exports will jump from the current ~3 Bcf/day to upwards of 15 billion cubic feet per day.  I predict the now unencumbered, free market of US natural gas and the US-led global economic recovery will surprise even the most sophisticated energy analysts. https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=35512
LNG Exports up 4x in 2017 - and more to come. Led by China, I believe by 2020 the US could be exporting 10 billion cubic feet per day of liquefied natural gas. https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=35512
